1. You must have goals.
It's important to have a clear vision of what you want and where you want to go. When you know what you want, it’s much easier to take the actions necessary to make it happen. When we know what our goals are then no matter how small or large they may seem at any given time in life there will always be something to work towards making those dreams come true. These goals will be realistic and be time-based. This is known as a SMART goal. If you don’t know what you want you won't recognize the opportunity when it comes.

2. Understand that taking risks is a necessary part of learning and growing.
If you never take a risk, you'll never know what could have been. Maybe you'll miss out on the best opportunity of your life. Taking calculated risks can lead to great things. One area where this is especially true is in careers. If you're waiting for the perfect job to come along, you may be waiting a long time. And even if it does come along, there's no guarantee that you'll get it. The only way to increase your chances of getting the job you want is to take action and apply for it. Even if you don't get the job, you'll be one step closer than if you had done nothing at all.
3. Take the time to make a plan.
You can have all the best intentions in the world but if you don’t have a workable plan to turn them into reality you won’t get very far. Goal setting and having a workable plan go hand-in-hand. When you have your outcome in mind, sit down alone in a quiet space and write down your goals and how you intend to get what you want.
So how do you start taking action? It begins with a decision. You have to decide that you're going to stop waiting and start taking action. Once you've made that decision, the next step is to take small actions every day that will move you closer to your goal. Your plan for your goals should be set up in smaller achievable actions that relate to the overall goal. These actions can be anything from researching the job you want to applying for it. The important thing is that you take action every day, no matter how small.

4. Be willing to work hard and put in the effort required to achieve your goals.
It's essential to be willing to put in the time and consistent action required to achieve your goals. You don’t have to leap tall buildings in a single bound to be successful. however over time the satisfaction of achieving your goals no matter how small will make it worth while.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment, it will never come. You have to start now. At first, start with small steps for whatever you want to accomplish. Once you’ve done one step, focus on the next and the next until you arrive.
5. Surround yourself with positive people who will support you on your journey.
Surround yourself with positive people, like-minded people and mentors. The best way to find motivation and aspiration is to be speaking to people who have achieved or done what you are aspiring to achieve. These people will be a source of strength, knowledge and encouragement during difficult times. They will also help you celebrate your successes. Positive people make all the difference on a journey--they provide cheer during tough moments and are aides in celebrating the good times. So find companions that will fill these behaviours and more to create a well-rounded support system. You can also find inspiration by listing to podcasts, watching videos and reading books.
6. Believe in yourself and have faith in your ability to succeed.
Having a positive attitude and believing in yourself will help you achieve success. The most important thing is to have a growth mindset, this means you’re growth-oriented, you believe in your ability to succeed, and you’re willing to put in the necessary work to make it happen. You can cultivate a growth mindset by gaining new knowledge, overriding negative self-talk, and taking daily and consistent action. Remember you are capable of doing difficult things.
If you're waiting for life to happen, you're going to be waiting a long time. But if you start taking action today, you can make things happen for yourself. Stop waiting and start taking action today!
